Alexandria is a vibrant city located along the banks of the Potomac River just a few miles away from the heart of Washington DC. The city’s old world feel and beauty make Alexandria’s cobble-lined streets enchanting to many people. Old Town is a popular hot spot for visitors and area residents alike; gorgeous historic buildings, upscale shopping boutiques and trendy dining and drinking venues are all close to home. There are more than 100 retail shops located along the main thoroughfare of King St., leading you to the Potomac waterfront with restaurants and a water-taxi to tour Alexandria and the vicinity.

For a fun daytime excursion, the Torpedo Factory Art Center, housed in an old munition’s factory, is home to over 165 artists spanning the three- level building. The public can visit the art studios and watch the craftspeople create their unique crafts and even purchase the finds directly from the artist. Beautiful Huntley Meadows, a wildlife preserve, is home to some of Virginia’s most elusive and beautiful wildlife. These wetlands are accessed over a spanse of boardwalks to observe local birds and other fauna in their natural habitat.

Spread throughout 159 neighborhoods, Alexandria is a mixture of pre-Revolutionary War homes, Georgian homes, and contemporary 21st-century architecture. Alexandria has an incredibly diverse collection of neighborhoods that come together to make up a wonderful whole.
